Celebrating 20 Years of  Theatre

Nestled across the street from the San Juan Capistrano Mission you will find the Camino Real Playhouse that for 20 years has been bringing live theatre to South Orange County audiences. The Camino Real Playhouse has become the destination for thousands of patrons looking for quality entertainment.

In the past seasons we have presented well over 160 full scale theatrical productions including well over a dozen playwriting festivals, and nearly 30 Shakespeare Productions. In addition, we have offered drama classes for adults and children and have hosted more than three dozen children's productions and two decades of Old-West Musical Melodramas. Our 2009-2010 season begins with Noises Off and then will thrill audiences with A Christmas Story, Our Annual Playwriting Festival - ShowOff 2010, Our Annual Melodrama - San Juan's Dirty Laundry, Don't Dress For Dinner, and The King and I ... right before our Summer Shakespeare Festival and Summer Melodrama Begin.

To continue to delight and challenge our audiences with the highest quality of intellectually challenging new works, re-imagined classics, special events and educational productions.

To produce a broad range of quality theatrical presentations that nurture local artistic expression in South Orange County and especially in our community of San Juan Capistrano.

To provide learning experiences for those interested in all aspects of theatre production including acting, design, box office and management.

To provide a home for educational theatre related experiences for youth and young adults, and to work for the development of a performing arts center right here in San Juan Capistrano that will embrace the future of the arts for generations to come.
