The year is 1492, a completely insignificant year, in the quaint little town of Capestrano, a province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo, Italy. The story centers around a traveling arms merchant who comes to town selling an assortment of knives, daggers, swords, flails and foils. Too bad most of them are dull, bend easily and are otherwise worthless. As the Merchant attempts to leave town ... a former flame begins arrangements for their wedding ... a major inconvenience for a conman peddler hoping to get out of town before his ruse is discovered. His faithful manservant Tangelo does everything he can to protect his master ... but to no avail. The wedding is on and so is this musical melodrama.

This is the ultimate Old World Melodrama set in the sister city of San Juan Capestrano ... Capaestrano Italy. Come to think of it ... it is probably the only Old World Melodrama of its type. Of course we have added some great music, and so much more. This World Premier Summer Melodrama has joined our Annual Shakespeare Festival for 2010 and whether we keep adding summer melodramas in the future is up to you. Come jeer the villain and enjoy the twists and turns that you only get from Melodramas. The most fun you will ever have in the theatre. Suitable for the entire family.

We welcome Irish virtuoso musicians David & Kieran Munnelly and guests in a great night of Irish traditional music, song and dance.  Irish merrymaking at its best.....and just in time for Christmas!

David Munnelly (Button Accordion). Button accordion wizard David Munnelly was born and raised in Co. Mayo. He is considered the most exciting young button accordionist to have emerged from Ireland in generations. David was the accordion player for The Chieftains from the age of 21 to 25, He also toured and performed with De Danaan and other legendary Irish artists before forming his own band in 2002. David composed and recorded the original soundtrack for the TG4 Irish television special Solas sa nDorchadasm, for which he received the 2004 Composer of the Year Award. He was also honored with the 2005 Composer of the Year Award and named Best Traditional Artist 2005 by LiveIreland.com and the Irish American News. In 2006, his band received the Concert of the Year Award from Irish American News. Munnelly’s latest release Tight Squeez, (‘It is perfection. Nothing else really comes close…’ LiveIreland.com Vocal/Instrumental Album of the Year 2010) was recorded in July 2009 in Spiddal, Co Galway.   Kieran Munnelly (Flute, Bodhrán).

Kieran Munnelly, an expert on the flute and bodhrán, has been playing music since the age of seven. His flute playing is so multi-dimensional and his bodhrán playing so exciting that this powerhouse artist is at the ‘top’, all on his own (LiveIreland.com Musician of the Year 2010). He is one of the lynchpins for Munnelly perhaps the best vocal/instrumental group in the business. He has worked with some of Ireland’s finest musicians, including Matt Molloy, Martin O’ Connor, Kieran Goss, Francis Black and many others. Additionally, Kieran has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe with The David Munnelly Band. He graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick in 2007 with a B.A. in Irish music performance, and with an M.A. in Irish music performance in 2009.
