For many years audiences have been entertained by plays, musicals and old-west melodramas at the Camino Real Playhouse in South Orange County. There have been special CCPA events such as Broadway under the Stars ... those nights where hundreds of people have bundled up in blankets under the Summer evening sky to enjoy our Capistrano Shakespeare Festival in the Historic San Juan Town Center Park. Our cadre of melodramatic characters have entered floats and marching entries in the Swallow's Day Parades and even helped to officiate community events such as the much heralded opening of the Los Rios park.

We have hosted dinner theatres in local restaurants. We have sponsored Chamber of Commerce mixers at our main theatre on El Camino Real, as well as holding special fund raising events for victims of tragic accidents and hurricanes. In 2009 we have thrown our efforts behind the great work that Home Front America has been providing for the families of our armed forces serving overseas. Our resident Villain even volunteered to barker the event's Dunk Tank for local celebrities and even took his turn in the water to help raise funds for this very needy cause.

In addition, we have also become a "nursery" of sorts in the area of children' theatre ... giving great talented individuals the opportunity to grow acting academy groups within the theatre. From time to time they burst out from our limited space into the local community providing additional resources for aspiring actors and actresses ... and that is a very good thing. Today ... the Capistrano Acting Academy has expanded to not only provide an enriching theatre experience for the youth, but to provide ongoing acting training for working adults and Summer Acting Camp for kids of all ages. There is just so much going on.

And that just scratches the surface of what the divisions of the Capistrano Center for the Performing Arts have been involved in. And all of this is beyond providing the quality theatre experience that South Orange County patrons have come to expect in our season of great plays at the Camino Real Theatre. So when you support any of our divisions ... you are supporting your community. But a picture is worth at least 1000 words, so visit our photo galleries below to catch a glimpse of the CCPA's Divisions in action.
